Wilshire Boulevard Temple – Phase 1A

Los Angeles, California

The Wilshire Boulevard Temple, originally constructed in 1929, includes the Sanctuary, Piness Auditorium, Stalford Hall, and a historic classroom building. The original structures of the campus are on the National Register of Historic Places. The project site is located on a 4 acre mid-Wilshire block, known as Magnin Square.

Phase 1A included renovation of the Sanctuary, construction of a new central plant, life safety improvements to the auditorium, ballroom, and administration spaces, and upgrading the existing surface parking lot, east courtyard, and Davidson Patio. Phase 1A is part of a Master Plan that, when completed, will provide space for on-site program uses that includes nursery, elementary, and religious schools, Temple administration, special event space, and a 450 car parking structure.

Responsibilities:

Our staff provided project and construction management services. The scope included budget development and management, contractor, consultant, and vendor procurement and management and construction administration.

Santa Barbara, California

Phase I of the Westmont College’s master plan implementation included the construction of two new academic buildings, a new observatory, the complete rework of existing athletic and baseball fields, a new central plant, and significant site and infrastructure upgrades. Four of the buildings are certified LEED Gold. Due to a restrictive development agreement with the County of Santa Barbara, the entire project was successfully completed within 30 months, while ensuring minimal impact to neighboring properties, students, and academic life.

The Village Walk is a mixed use project consisting of a 760 car below grade parking garage, 100,000 SF of restaurant and retail space, 15 high-end townhomes and a 55 unit condominium development. Situated in the San Fernando Valley on Ventura Boulevard, it is an elegantly designed life style center with tenants including Whole Foods Market, Starbucks, TJ Maxx, Yoga Works, Chipotle and MAC Cosmetics.

Responsibilities:

Our staff provided full service construction management and cost management for the construction of the core/shell along with tenant coordination services for all subsequent tenant improvement projects. Our staff also provided preconstruction services related to the future multifamily component of the development.

The Webb Schools is a college preparatory boarding school for young men and women in grades 9 through 12. Founded in 1922 and situated in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, the beautiful 72 acre campus is home to more than 400 students and 100 faculty and staff. Our staff worked with The Webb Schools on the implementation of their 2004 facilities Master Plan, including a new black box theater, renovation of the performing arts center, renovation of the dining hall, new entry turnaround and welcome center, renovation of six dormitory buildings, renovation of the Price Dining Hall, a new aquatics center, renovation of seven on campus faculty residences, renovation of the student center and renovation of various individual classrooms. Starting in 2014 our team worked with Webb and campus architect David J. Neuman, FAIA and Neu Campus Planning to develop an updated campus master plan. Recent projects include Phase 1 of the campus site and infrastructure improvement project, renovation of the Thornton Science Lab, renovation of the Alf Museum restrooms and construction of 4 new faculty housing units.

Scope includes budget development and management, contractor, consultant, and vendor procurement, multiple prime contracting and construction administration. UC Riverside GlenMor2

Riverside, California

Glen Mor 2 is a student housing project at UC Riverside, consisting of eight buildings, including living space, conference rooms, recreation space, administrative space, a dining commons, a 600 stall parking garage and all associated site and landscape work. The project consists of 370,000 SF of program space with 190,000 SF of structured parking and is situated on an 11 acre site adjacent to occupied dormitories. It will provide 800 beds in a mixture of two and four bedroom apartments.

Responsibilities:

Our staff provided staff augmentation services in in support of UCR’s in-house project management personnel.

The Ennis House

Los Angeles, California

The Ennis House was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright and is a registered historical landmark. Renovations of the property included shoring and structural improvement work to stabilize the chauffeur’s quarters, motor court, and main house. Additional exterior work included replacement of patterned textile blocks that had failed over time, new roofing and new landscaping. Interior improvements included restoration of many original finishes and fixtures as well as conservation of a large tile mosaic that is the centerpiece of the living area.
